1:1 iPads Being Used for Internet Games

Copy of Email sent 1/14/16:

8th Grade Teachers,
We have had a number of students caught playing games on their iPads such as 2048, Agario, flappybird, etc. during class time, when they are supposed to be working on an assignment or activity related to their class (we have already spoken to around 10 kids and issued consequences). Jim, Kate, and I have been talking this morning, and we really to enforce the iPad agreement and continue to maintain high expectations.

If you see any student playing games during instruction or work time, when they are supposed to be working on an assignment, please email me their names, and I will document it and assign them a Wednesday lunch detention. Please feel free to email at your discretion (either as it happens, or one email at the end of the day). You DO NOT need to take the time to write a referral. But, please let them know they will have a lunch detention as a result. Kate will be drafting an announcement for you all to read during Panther Time next Thursday.

However, please continue to write referrals on overly egregious offenses such as inappropriate websites, pictures, memes, harassment, etc. If you have any questions or wish to discuss further, please don’t hesitate to see me, or we can check-in on Tuesday.

Thanks so much,
Mark
